Empowering Local Communities: Decentralizing Power for Local Solutions

Radical Bloom believes local communities should have the autonomy and power to govern themselves. We will decentralize authority from the federal government and allow communities to make decisions that best fit their specific needs.

• Local Leadership and Accountability: Who knows their communities better than the people who live in them? Regional leaders will have the delegated power to make decisions on education, healthcare, policing, and resource management. Local government should be accountable to its people and flexible to address community-specific issues. Educational initiatives will be rolled out to assist local leadership in managing these new roles. This will better serve those who often feel overlooked by a centralized government.

• Compulsory Voting: We support compulsory voting, ensuring that every citizen has a voice in the political process and that elections accurately represent the people. Voter turnout is a huge contention point where only the most extreme of the political parties are represented. We will also implement ranked-choice voting to promote fairer, more representative outcomes. An option for 'No Candidate' will be rolled out to represent the alienated or apathetic voter in a polarized environment. This will force leadership to listen to the public's demands if 'No Candidate' receives the popular vote.

• Term Limits and Recall Votes: We will institute five-year terms for elected officials, with a 15-year maximum to allow fresh leadership and reduce career politicians. Recall votes will allow citizens to petition if an official fails to serve the people's best interests and remove them from office. We wish for politicians and leadership to better serve the American people, and ensure corruption stays out of office.

• Government Transparency: We believe in full transparency in all documents that do not jeopardize the American populace, ensuring that citizens can hold their leaders accountable, and trust is fostered through open governance.  People deserve to know where their tax dollars are being spent in an easy-to-access public format with no fiscal barriers.

Federal Government

While Radical Bloom values local governance, we acknowledge that certain national and global issues require a strong federal government. However, it must serve as a check on corruption, defend national security, and support global solidarity.

• Anti-Corruption Measures: We will implement strong anti-corruption laws, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of government. Regular audits, open records, and whistleblower protections will expose abuses of power and foster public trust. We do not believe that anyone is special due to their position or influence, no one should feel enabled to take advantage of a corrupt government.

• Global Cooperation: Radical Bloom supports a cooperative and human rights-focused foreign policy that fosters peace, environmental sustainability, and fairness across the globe, rejecting imperialistic approaches. We should not be funneling money and weaponry into foreign war zones, only furthering existing conflicts, instead, we should cooperate with our other global powers and put effort into making the future a better place for all. The federal government should focus on defense and humanitarian aid.

• National Defense: We believe the federal government should focus on protection, not provocation. We will maintain a defensive military focused on protecting citizens from external threats but will prioritize diplomacy and peacebuilding over military action. Through dialogue, collaboration and multilateral partnerships, we aim to reduce global tensions and foster lasting peace.

• Military Oversight: All military and intelligence actions will be subject to public oversight, ensuring that they are transparent and only used as a last resort. We aim to reduce unnecessary military interventions, particularly those driven by geopolitical interests rather than national security needs. Our resources should be spent wisely, with a focus on the protection of our home rather than claiming resources overseas. Public and expert review committees will be established to determine if military action is warranted.

Education

Education is the cornerstone of an equitable society. Radical Bloom will provide free education from primary school to university while promoting access to vocational training and lifelong learning opportunities.

• Universal Education: We will provide free education to all citizens, from primary to higher education, and incentivize trade schools and vocational training as essential pathways to employment. Financial backgrounds should not affect access to opportunity, we envision an America where anyone can do whatever they dream of without having to rely on financial aid. We wish to promote vocational training as an alternative to higher education, with school programs allowing students to have experience in the fields they are interested in before dedicating themselves to further education.

• Access and Equity: Our education system will prioritize equal access to high-quality education, regardless of socioeconomic background, and ensure that communities have local control over educational priorities. Radical Bloom believes access to quality education is a fundamental human right, essential to the growth, empowerment, and dignity of every individual. Education should never be determined by someone's zip code or parent's wealth. We believe that having a community-driven education will allow for the prioritization of local values, culture, and challenges. All schools will receive equitable funding.

• Incentives for Lifelong Learning: To foster ongoing personal and professional growth, we will incentivize adult education, skills retraining, and continuous learning through public and private partnerships. Universal access to continuing education will ensure that learning is not restricted to young adults but remains accessible for individuals at any stage in their personal or professional journey. Radical Bloom will support employer-sponsored educational opportunities, such as tuition reimbursement and on-the-job training, encouraging employees' continuous learning. We will also prioritize the creation of modular education programs that are affordable, accessible, and fit into people's busy lives. 

• Affordable Childcare: Radical Bloom will advocate for free or affordable childcare programs that guarantee childcare does not become a barrier for working families. This will include publicly funded daycare centers, early childhood education programs, and childcare subsidies. We will also fight for comprehensive paid family leave for parents to take time off without financial hardship to bond with their newborns, care for sick children, or address pressing family matters.

Universal Healthcare

Radical Bloom believes that healthcare is a fundamental human right. We will create a universal healthcare system that provides care for all people, regardless of income or location.

• Universal Healthcare: We will implement a single-payer healthcare system to ensure that all people have access to high-quality medical care without the barrier of cost. This model will eliminate the profit-driven motives of private insurance companies, streamline the administrative costs of healthcare, and ensure everyone has access to essential medical services. As a part of our universal healthcare program, we will negotiate bulk prices for prescription medication and push to cap drug prices to make medications affordable for all. No one should have to choose between their health and financial stability.

• Mental Health Support: Mental health services will be integrated into primary care, making therapy, psychological support, and mental health crisis intervention easily accessible. We will also integrate nutrition counseling and wellness programs alongside traditional medical care, making it so healthcare addresses not just symptoms, but quality of life.

• Preventative Care: We will shift focus toward preventative care through health education, screenings, and support for healthy lifestyles, reducing long-term health costs. Far too many Americans only seek medical care when they are already sick or injured, but we believe we should prioritize prevention. Radical Bloom will ensure that preventative care such as annual physical exams, dental care, vision, vaccinations, screenings, and mental health screenings are included in our universal healthcare program.

• Public Health Campaigns: Radical Bloom will launch nationwide health campaigns aimed at the prevention of smoking, promoting vaccination, encouraging healthy eating, and raising awareness of mental health. These campaigns will work in tandem with educational efforts to reach all demographics, ensuring that people are empowered to take proactive steps toward their health. We also wish to increase tax on harmful substances such as sugar, tobacco, and alcohol to discourage unhealthy habits. 

Economic Justice  

Radical Bloom supports a solidarity economy where wealth is fairly redistributed, workers have a voice, and local economies thrive. We reject the notion of an economy driven solely by corporate profit and instead emphasize people-centered economic policies.

• Wealth Redistribution: We will introduce progressive taxation and wealth-sharing initiatives that ensure the ultra-wealthy and large corporations contribute fairly to the public good, funding programs that benefit society as a whole. We support cooperatives, ethical businesses, and social enterprises, and we aim to build networks of businesses that operate on principles of equity and fair distribution of resources. This helps redistribute wealth and move away from the idea that profits should be concentrated in the hands of the few.

• Universal Basic Income (UBI): We will implement a UBI to guarantee that all citizens have a minimum standard of living, lifting people out of poverty and providing a safety net for everyone. Radical Bloom believes that we should emphasize cooperation over competition, economic justice, and the well-being of all people. A UBI will not only further redistribute wealth, but reduce income inequality and allow everyone to access the resources they need to thrive.

• Support for Cooperation: We aim for businesses, organizations, and individuals to prioritize mutual support and cooperation rather than viewing each other solely as competitors. The aim is to build collective wealth and shared prosperity, rather than simply enriching individuals or corporations. This can take the form of worker cooperatives, community-owned enterprises, and mutual credit systems, all of which encourage shared decision-making and profit distribution.

• Community over Profit: In our economic model, the main goal is not to maximize profits for shareholders but to promote the well-being of the entire community. This means prioritizing affordable housing, access to healthcare, education, and community-led development. Profits generated by businesses can be reinvested into local communities, helping to fund education, healthcare, social services, and community development projects.

• Affordable Housing: Community Land Trusts are nonprofit organizations that manage land on behalf of a community, often to ensure long-term affordable housing and sustainable land use. The goal is to prevent speculation and gentrification by keeping land out of the hands of for-profit developers. Radical Bloom wants to put more land in the hands of the communities, allowing for direct democracy to determine exactly what to do with this land. To reduce predatory landlord practices, a vacancy tax on homes that would otherwise be occupied will be implemented. Abandoned infrastructure or unutilized spaces will be bought back and converted into affordable living spaces.

Climate Justice

Climate change is an existential threat that requires bold and immediate action. Radical Bloom will lead the charge for a green economy, where sustainability and climate justice are core to every policy decision.

• Renewable Energy Transition: We will invest in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and geothermal, and ensure that the transition away from fossil fuels is just and equitable for all communities. This shift will create millions of green jobs and drive innovation while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A just transition means ensuring workers in fossil fuel industries are not left behind. Radical Bloom will implement robust job retraining programs, pension protections, and economic diversification plans for communities reliant on fossil fuel industries. To ensure no one is left out of the renewable energy revolution, we will make investments to bring affordable, clean energy to every household, with a focus on rural, underserved, and low-income communities. We will modernize the national energy grid to support renewable energy sources, improve energy efficiency, and reduce waste.

• Environmental Justice: Marginalized communities—particularly BIPOC and low-income communities—have historically borne the brunt of environmental degradation and climate change. Radical Bloom will prioritize environmental justice in all policy decisions. We will enforce stricter regulations on polluting industries and clean up toxic sites in disproportionately affected communities. Investments will be made to ensure access to clean air, safe drinking water, and uncontaminated soil. Radical Bloom will fund community-led climate adaptation projects, ensuring local voices are at the center of decision-making. These initiatives will include building green infrastructure, creating urban green spaces, and improving disaster preparedness in vulnerable areas. We will explore reparative policies to address the historic environmental injustices faced by marginalized groups, ensuring they have access to the resources necessary for a sustainable future.

• Global Climate Leadership: Radical Bloom will take bold action to meet global climate targets, investing in sustainable practices and international cooperation to tackle climate change at its roots. Radical Bloom will position the United States as a leader in the fight against climate change, championing international collaboration and sustainable practices. We commit to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and cutting emissions by 50% by 2030, in alignment with the Paris Agreement and beyond. Radical Bloom will fund clean energy projects in developing nations, promoting a just global transition and addressing climate inequities. We will leverage trade agreements to incentivize sustainable practices worldwide, penalizing countries and corporations that fail to meet environmental standards.

Data Privacy and Digital Rights

In the era of surveillance, Radical Bloom will ensure that data privacy and digital rights are protected, empowering individuals to control their own information and protect their freedoms.

• Data Protection Laws: Radical Bloom will introduce and enforce robust data privacy legislation to ensure citizens maintain ownership of their data and are shielded from exploitation. Individuals will have clear, enforceable rights to access, correct, and delete their data across all platforms. Companies will be required to obtain explicit consent before collecting or using personal data, with significant penalties for violations. We believe that people are entitled to their privacy and should have a say in who can utilize their data. Government agencies will be held to the highest standards of data protection, with independent oversight to prevent misuse of surveillance technologies.

• Decentralized Digital Platforms: The dominance of centralized tech giants has undermined privacy and competition. Radical Bloom will champion the development of decentralized, community-driven platforms that prioritize user privacy and security while promoting free speech. We will provide grants and incentives for the creation of open-source and decentralized digital ecosystems. Users will have a say in the governance and operation of these platforms, fostering trust and accountability. Privacy comes first, and support will focus on platforms that use end-to-end encryption and minimize data collection.

• Digital Literacy and Equity: We will invest in expanding broadband infrastructure to close the digital divide, ensuring every household has affordable, high-speed internet access. We will fund comprehensive digital literacy programs in schools and communities, with a focus on empowering marginalized groups. In the modern world, too many are left disconnected from major resources available at our fingertips and we will promote programs that provide low-cost or free digital devices to underserved populations, enabling full participation in the digital economy.

• Cybersecurity and Personal Safety: Protecting individuals from cyber threats is a fundamental part of safeguarding digital rights. Radical Bloom will take proactive steps to ensure online safety. We believe investments in national cybersecurity infrastructure to defend against hacking, ransomware, and other digital threats are critical in ensuring American citizens stay safe. To promote safe online economies, strict standards will be implemented for digital products, ensuring they meet high security and privacy benchmarks. We will utilize public awareness campaigns to educate citizens on how to protect their personal information and recognize cyber threats.

Cultural Equity

Radical Bloom believes in the transformative power of cultural diversity and is committed to building a society where inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity are fundamental principles. Through targeted policies and community-focused initiatives, we will celebrate diversity while dismantling barriers to equity.

• Cultural Education: Education is a cornerstone for fostering understanding and respect. Radical Bloom will ensure that all students learn about the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of diverse communities. We will mandate that public schools adopt inclusive curricula reflecting the histories and cultures of BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, and immigrant communities. Educators will receive training to foster culturally responsive teaching methods and create supportive environments for all students. National recognition of cultural heritage months and local initiatives to celebrate diverse traditions will be prioritized. 

• Support for Indigenous Communities: Radical Bloom will protect the rights of Indigenous peoples, advocating for land rights, cultural preservation, and sovereignty. We will advocate for the return of ancestral lands to Indigenous nations and protect their access to natural resources. Investments will be made in programs that document and revitalize Indigenous languages, traditions, and art. Radical Bloom will work alongside Indigenous leaders to strengthen their sovereignty, ensuring they have control over their lands, governance, and development.

• Anti-Discrimination Policies: We will strengthen laws that protect people from discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other identity. Dismantling systemic discrimination requires strong protections and proactive measures to address inequities in every facet of society. We will strengthen and expand anti-discrimination laws to include robust enforcement mechanisms, addressing bias in housing, employment, education, and healthcare. Establishing independent review boards to handle complaints of discrimination and harassment will ensure transparency and fairness. Radical Bloom will fund initiatives addressing overlapping forms of discrimination, ensuring no identity is left unsupported.

• Community Empowerment: Building a truly inclusive society requires empowering marginalized communities to lead and shape their futures. We will provide grants and resources to community organizations led by historically excluded groups. Investments will be made to ensure that public spaces—including parks, libraries, and cultural centers—are accessible, welcoming, and reflective of diverse communities. Radical Bloom will advocate for equitable representation in government, ensuring policymaking includes diverse voices.

Police and Prison Reform

Radical Bloom is committed to transforming law enforcement into a system that serves and protects communities with integrity, fairness, and respect for human rights. By implementing comprehensive reforms, we aim to rebuild trust and ensure accountability at all levels.

• Police Education and Training: A well-trained police force is critical to ensuring the safety and dignity of all citizens. Radical Bloom will overhaul police education and training programs to emphasize community engagement and non-violent approaches. Mandatory training in non-violent conflict resolution and de-escalation will reduce the likelihood of excessive force. To improve cultural competency, officers will receive education on implicit bias, cultural awareness, and the diverse needs of the communities they serve. Specialized training will prepare officers to respond effectively and compassionately to individuals in mental health crises.

• Community-Based Policing: Radical Bloom will prioritize community-led safety programs that address the root causes of crime and reduce reliance on armed police interventions, particularly in non-violent situations. We will invest in programs that empower local communities to take active roles in public safety and conflict resolution. Teams of social workers, mental health professionals, and mediators will respond to non-violent emergencies, freeing police to focus on crime prevention and investigation. We encourage regular town halls and community meetings to foster dialogue between law enforcement and the public, which will improve tense relations.

• Accountability and Transparency: Holding law enforcement accountable is essential to ensuring justice and maintaining public trust. Radical Bloom will implement measures to increase transparency and prevent abuses of power. A universal mandate of body-worn cameras will provide clear documentation of interactions, promoting accountability. Civilian and expert review boards will oversee complaints of misconduct and excessive force, ensuring impartial investigations. Police departments will be required to collect and publicly share data on stops, arrests, and use-of-force incidents to identify and address systemic issues without a fiscal barrier in an easy-to-access public format.

• Restorative Justice: Radical Bloom envisions a justice system rooted in healing, reconciliation, and community well-being. By shifting focus from incarceration to restoration, we aim to address the underlying causes of harm. Community circles, mediation programs, and other restorative methods will prioritize accountability and healing for victims and offenders alike in non-violent crimes. We will work toward a future where incarceration is replaced with community-based solutions, including education, mental health services, and economic support. Incarceration should not be a first resort and we plan to rid of minimum sentencing. Investments in reentry programs, vocational training, and mental health care will reduce recidivism and support individuals in rebuilding their lives.

Gun Ownership Reform

At Radical Bloom, we support the 2nd Amendment while recognizing the importance of accountability in gun ownership. We believe that the right to bear arms should come with clear and responsible guidelines to protect our communities. Our policy advocates for:

• Responsible Gun Ownership: We believe individuals should be able to exercise their 2nd Amendment rights but with a strong emphasis on public safety. This includes implementing background checks to ensure gun owners are eligible, psychiatric evaluations to assess mental stability, and mandatory training to ensure individuals understand the responsibilities and risks that come with firearm ownership.

• Mental Health and Criminal History Screening: To prevent dangerous individuals from acquiring firearms, we will require a thorough background check for all gun purchases. This will include a detailed review of an individual’s mental health history, criminal records, and psychiatric evaluations to ensure that only those who can be trusted to own and safely use firearms are allowed to do so.

• Holding Owners Accountable: In the event of negligent or reckless use of firearms, we will implement policies that hold gun owners fully accountable for any deaths or injuries that occur. Gun owners will be legally responsible for ensuring their weapons are stored and used safely, with severe consequences for any violations of these standards, reinforcing the importance of public safety.

Pathways to Citizenship with Clear Expectations

Radical Bloom believes that the United States should continue to be a beacon of opportunity for people around the world while ensuring that the benefits of immigration are shared equitably and that the challenges of integration are met with both support and respect for American values. We support a fair and clear pathway to citizenship for those who contribute positively to society and comply with American laws. Our immigration system should reward hard work, respect for the law, and a commitment to becoming active, responsible citizens.

• Merit-Based Immigration: Radical Bloom advocates for a merit-based system that prioritizes individuals bringing skills, education, and talents that benefit the U.S. economy. This approach appeals to both economic conservatives and those who believe in the potential of immigrants to drive innovation and growth in critical sectors. By focusing on the needs of the workforce and economy, we ensure that immigration is beneficial to all.

• Secure Borders with Legal Entry: We believe in secure borders to protect national security, but also in a welcoming environment for those seeking to contribute to our nation. We will streamline the legal immigration process, making it easier for people to enter the U.S. through proper channels. By creating more accessible and efficient pathways for legal entry, we aim to reduce the demand for undocumented immigration and discourage exploitation of our immigration system.

• Pathway for Undocumented Immigrants: For individuals already residing in the U.S. without legal status, we propose a path to citizenship that includes necessary steps such as background checks, the payment of fines, and an English language proficiency requirement. Any undocumented immigrant with a violent criminal history will not be authorized. This will ensure that those who wish to stay in the U.S. are committed to integrating into American society and contributing to the nation's future. Through this pathway, we offer a fair and compassionate approach that acknowledges the reality of their contributions while encouraging successful integration.
